FIA Boca wrap-up (part II): A look into the future of trading

FIA Boca wrap-upZoom

Networking at the Eurex Café at FIA Boca

FIA Boca is the perfect place for networking which we, like every year, support by opening our Eurex Café every morning. This has already become a tradition and the spot for a quick coffee and an entertaining and informative chat with colleagues from all over the world.

Back to work and to the Exchange Leaders Panel, where Eurex CEO Thomas Book discussed the significance of new technologies, the importance of the opening of China's capital markets and new asset classes. He said: “In the future, financial instruments will be digitized. There will be tradable instruments that we cannot think of today.”

Deutsche Börse Group just did one important step in this direction. Our colleagues announced strategic partnership with Swisscom and Sygnum to build and grow a trusted and regulatory compliant financial market infrastructure for digital assets.

A highlight was the attention ESG investing received – both on the Exchange Leaders Panel and on a specific ESG panel. There, Vassilis Vergotis, our Global Head of Product Development & Strategy for Equity and Equity index, discussed recent industry trends around sustainability. Eurex just launched a suite of ESG products. “Demand is mainly coming from Scandinavian clients,” Vassilis said. “STOXX put a lot of work with these clients into identifying the ESG indexes that would be most relevant.”

The Futures Industry Association (FIA) has included Andreas Preuss, former Eurex CEO and former Deputy CEO of Deutsche Börse, into its Hall of Fame, thus honoring his lifetime achievements. Since 2005, the Futures Hall of Fame has celebrated and recognized the significant contributions individuals have made to the listed and cleared derivatives community. For us at Eurex, this was one major highlight of the second day of the 44th FIA International Futures Industry Conference in Boca Raton.
