Back Office Staff

One of the many ways that we at Eurex Clearing promote a safe and secure marketplace is by mandating that our Members have at least one qualified back office staff member on-hand to ensure the orderly fulfilment of the clearing obligations. For this purpose, we stipulate that qualified back office staff member must be available via telephone and facsimile on business days until 19:00 CET.

In order to be deemed "qualified", staff members must pass the Eurex Clearer Test.

Eurex Clearer Test

The Eurex Clearer Test has been designed to test Member knowledge of clearing functionalities within the Eurex® system. Ensuring the competence of Members' back office staff is another way that Eurex Clearing sets high standards in the industry.

The Eurex Clearer Test is an electronic test whereby a software program randomly selects 90 questions, taken from a catalogue of approximately 1,000 questions. Exam candidates have a total of two hours to answer all questions and need a total of at least 75 percent of the total number of points to pass.

In preparation for the Eurex Clearer Test, participants should become familiar with the Eurex Rules & Regulations, Product Specifications, System Functionality and the Eurex Clearing Process. On the Learning Portal, Eurex offers a set of preparatory material free of charge, including a preparation guide and sample questions (approximately 2/3 of the entire question catalogue is available to the public). Moreover, in the section "Forums" you are welcome to participate in the discussion forum for test candidates and to direct your questions to our experts. Eurex also offers the test simulation software "eXams Offline".

In order to ensure Members have ample opportunity to take the test, the Eurex Clearer Test is offered in German and English language on a regular basis in Amsterdam, Chicago, Frankfurt, Helsinki, London, New York, Paris, and Zurich. Upon request it is possible to hold the Eurex Clearer Test at an alternative location. Registration for the test is possible via the Learning Portal.
